Handmade & vintage: a match made in community heaven
Online vintage clothing store ‘Alexandra Vintage’, run by Reading local Alexandra Dewis, and Reading arts charity ‘jelly’ share their love of all things vintage and handmade.
First joining forces nearly a year ago with “Vintage Showcase” – a vintage fashion show display in Market Place as part of jelly’s Third Thursday programme – Alexandra Vintage and jelly continue to work together in partnership, planning activity of all kinds in Reading.
Both organisations share a key focus surrounding handmade, vintage, art and heritage and continue to work together to bring activity of such kind to Reading. Suzanne Stallard, Director of jelly said “We are really pleased to continue working with Alexandra Vintage and welcome Alexandra and her ideas to the jelly team. There are some very exciting projects coming up that tick both the handmade and vintage box so watch this space”.
Collaborative activity, to name but a few, will include a continued vintage twist on jelly’s ‘Secret Market’ and ‘Aunt Elsie’s’ events as well as a heritage fete in September – ‘Here’s Heritage’ – Reading’s Outdoor Celebration of Nostalgia’ – a first event of its kind, organised by Alexandra Vintage in celebration of Reading’s Heritage.
Alexandra Dewis, Director of Alexandra Vintage said “To be part of the jelly team is fantastic for Alexandra Vintage. Although we are mainly an online business, it’s very important for us to get involved in local activity and jelly allows us to do just that! We look forward to continuing working with them and their creative minds.”
