This month’s Third Thursday event will transform the streetscape of Reading into a living studio. A cluster of artists, designers, performers andcreatives of all types will take their art to the streets to enjoy an arty street party. Each artist will have their own table and chairs where the community will be invited to sit down and talk about the artists work. This is not a selling event but one based on creating conversations, engaging with the community and changing the street for a day. Come along and find us on Broad Street East, outside M&S from 11am.
Artists will include PatchworkButterfly, Salvo, More Arts and UK Handmade.
Artist Lisa-Marie Gibbs is all about drawing and hand stitching, combining the two to make beautifuladornments for you and your home. Inspired by the mundane and the insane, gossip and beauty, love, life and all of the other stuff that surrounds us, Lisa-Marie utilises an eclectic mix of vintage fabrics, buttons threads and knits to create textile works that will touch you in some way, that become part of your everyday lives, and that still retain the sense of wonder you felt when you first saw, bought or were given them.

Salvo photographs people, places and things -though not necessarily in this order and often together. Salvo uses photography as a means to engage the viewer in a narrative. Observing happenings in the environment around him is fascinating and never repetitive. People going about their business, just sitting in front of him tell a story. People move, so capturing the right moment requires patience, sympathy, adaptation and perseverance. His photography is a documentary and an appreciation for what is seen and experienced.
Based in Reading, Salvo is resident photographer at the Jelly arts organisation and a member of theWhiteknights Studio Trail.
